Blac Chyna Had to 'Teach Myself Discipline' to Tackle Sobriety and Fitness Journey: 'It’s a Very Hard Thing'
“It's not just a one-day thing. These are things that you have to continue to do on a daily basis,” the TV personality said
Blac Chyna is opening up about her newfound discipline and how it’s helped her maintain her sobriety for over a year.
The TV personality, who now goes by her birth name Angela White, appeared on the latest episode of the Viall Files podcast and discussed how she’s managed to make such great progress in her sobriety and fitness journey. During the show, host Nick Viall asked the 35-year-old model what pivotal moment made her decide to really tackle getting — and staying — sober.
“It’s a very hard thing. I had to teach myself discipline,” White admitted. “Even with [my] sobriety, working out, and becoming closer to God with my spirituality, that stuff takes discipline. It's not just a one-day thing. These are things that you have to continue to do on a daily basis. All these things are gonna come at you through your mind, body and your soul and spirit.”
“So I was like, you know what, if I stay disciplined like, ‘Alright, this is my set schedule for working out. It doesn’t matter if I stayed up the night before, if I have to go to work at a certain time, you’re gonna work out,’” she explained.
White said that she has to “put the work in,” especially as someone in the public eye, but she wanted to be a good space all around.
“Sometimes it can become hard. And with the sobriety, I just needed a clear mind,” she added. “I just feel like my kids are getting older and I just need to be 100% clear-minded all the time.”
White added that she was also motivated by the celebratory balloons she got after marking one year sober. “I wanted that No. 1 balloon,” she quipped. “Now I’m going for the 2.”

Last month, the reality star celebrated the milestone in her sobriety journey with an emotional post on Instagram.
"September 14 , 2023 marks my one-year of sobriety this year taught me a lot about myself," White wrote. "I made up my mind on September 14, 2022 that I was done with the alcohol."
The Real Blac Chyna star included a collection of photos that began with an image in which she received flowers and a balloon from her mom, Tokyo Toni (real name Shalana Jones-Hunter). She followed the sweet photo with pictures of a celebratory cake that read, "Congratulations on your 1 year sobriety Angela Renee White" and included a sobriety chip.
While she confessed in the lengthy post that reaching the milestone was not easy, White vowed to continue practicing sobriety and thanked everyone who had been a part of her journey.
"Angela White is unstoppable, smart, beautiful, brave, a great mother, and a great friend," she declared.
