Black Friday shoppers flood Windsor malls

Black Friday shoppers flood Windsor malls

Cash registers were humming in Windsor in the lead up to the weekend as Canadian and U.S. shoppers scoured for Black Friday deals.

Parking lots were jammed at the Roundhouse Centre, Devonshire mall and the Windsor Crossing outlet mall.

At Toys R Us half price sales had people lined up from the checkouts all the way back to the store.

Many shoppers said they stayed close to home because it wasn't worth crossing into the U.S. because of the low Canadian dollar.

Single-day sales were anticipated to be on par with Boxing Day, said some store staff members.

At Windsor Crossing, Adidas store manager Aimee Richards expected to sell about a month's worth of merchandise on Friday alone.

"Boxing Day used to be the No. 1 day for us," she told CBC. "I wouldn't be surprised if Black Friday...actually beats the Boxing Day numbers."
