It’s a genius style hack, too.
It’s my favorite time of the year! Sure, I love pumpkin spice everything, the smell and feel of the fresh, crisp air, and seeing all the leaves change colors (which is pretty epic when you live 10 minutes from Central Park). But TBH, the “thing” I love most is the fact that I can wear my boots again. Yes, it’s boot season again, and yes, you can bet that I already have my whole lineup of ankle, knee-high, thigh- high, and cowboy boots within arm’s reach. But, I was inspired to add a new style to my rotation, courtesy of Blake Lively.
Lively, who’s been out and about with BFF Taylor Swift, has been serving straight fashun. Sure, some people might be mostly focused on Swift and her budding romance with football player Travis Kelce, but I’m here for the outfits — and Lively's night out ‘fit was equal parts retro, sexy, and comfortable, a true style trifecta. The actress wore a striped, faux-leather skirt from Mother, a celeb-favorite brand, which she paired with a beige crop top and a tweed blazer worn over her shoulders. The finishing — and winning — touch, however, was the boot style she wore.
Lively didn’t wear regular boots; she wore cool boots that could easily be the poster child for the term “fall boots.” Her pair, crafted from light-brown suede, hit right at the knees and had a chunky wooden block sole and buckle detailing on the ankle that instantly upgraded the otherwise simple silhouette. So chic! And while suede boots aren’t necessarily new, they are new in that we haven’t seen them in a while.

Lively isn’t the only celebrity who’s already pulled out her suede boots. Martha Stewart recently wore a pair of suede ankle booties that are incredibly versatile and timeless. She paired hers with a sheer, flowy dress while Lively opted for a leather skirt, but the DNA of the style is all the same: a simple design and supple suede fabric that screams fall. That said, what sets Lively’s apart — and gives them a little bit of a sexy edge — is the high knee height, a style that’s been blowing up.
Not only does the tall style read bold and daring, but it also acts as an ideal style hack for these in-between weather days. Pair your knee-highs with a midi skirt, and you can totally forgo tights. That’s because the boots cover up any areas that could be exposed to the chill. It’s my favorite way to wear my summery pieces into the autumn months, too.
Suede boots are timeless, ageless, and so easy to wear. Trust me: When you slip into tall suede boots, especially in a neutral hue like Lively’s, you won’t want to wear anything else. Shop similar styles, below.
