Blake Shelton gets called out for not recognizing former bandmate on 'The Voice'

The Voice has returned for Season 20 with coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas, and Blake Shelton, the latter of whom came face-to-face with an old friend Monday night.

It's a good thing Blake turned for 45-year-old Pete Mroz, because he turned out to be one of Blake's former bandmates from a group called The Young Riders 25 years ago.

Eventually, Pete revealed his identity, much to Blake’s amusement and shock, and he jokingly accused Blake of stealing his bass player back in the day.

Kelly Clarkson was having a big laugh over the entire situation, as were viewers who took to Twitter saying how hilarious it was that Blake was totally surprised.

While John Legend tried to convince Pete that the best revenge for stealing his bass player would be to disappoint Blake and join Team Legend, in the end, Pete chose his former bandmate, which Blake was thrilled about.

“It’s just gonna be a blast to catch up with him and work with him. But the main reason that I’m excited he’s on my team is I think he’s a helluva singer," shared Blake. Meanwhile, Pete was also looking forward to working with his new coach, as he told Carson Daily, "It's kind of a full-circle moment for me, you know? Like, it's crazy to think that we sat in rounds playing songs, and here we are."
