Blake Lively attended Variety’s Power of Women event on Friday, and was left unimpressed by one question put forward by a reporter on the red carpet. In what was seemingly an attempt to be on-theme, they asked: “What’s your power outfit?” And, according to Vanity Fair, Blake replied: “Come on, you want to talk about an outfit here, today?”

Meanwhile, USA Today reporter Maeve McDermott said Blake added: “Are we really doing this? Would you ask a man that?” Maeve tweeted a video of the exchange which shows Blake mid-sentence saying, “... become more aware, and that we change, and that we build a women up. So, you can ask me another question.”

Given that Blake was at the event to be honoured for promoting the Child Rescue Coalition, you can see why this was not the time or place to be quizzing her on her clothes.

It’s not the first time a celebrity has been dismayed by a question about their outfit choices. The #AskHerMore campaign, started by The Representation Project's Jennifer Siebel Newsom, is supported by many Hollywood actresses who are tired of being asked the same sexist questions relating to what they look like.

As the #AskHerMore website reads: Our #AskHerMore campaign inspires people to call out sexist reporting and suggest ways to re-focus on women’s achievements.”

And Blake has many big achievements.
