Blizzard Bicycle Club road race sees youth triumph over experience

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — In calm and seasonable conditions, Blizzard Bicycle Club held a road race on June 9th on a 39-kilometre loop from Beatton Road to the Montney highway.

The five riders who braved the ride on Sunday proved durable and resilient getting through the course, with two riders who shared the last name McCracken leading the pack.

At the finish line, youth prevailed over experience, as Tanner McCracken pulled away from his father Calvin to take first place in the event with a time of 1:25:46.

Calvin came in exactly two minutes after, with a time of 1:27:46. Kristine Bock rounded out the podium with a time of 1:33:03.

A short loop event was also held on the course, with Richard Wood finishing in a time of 1:12:49.

Nigel Wray, who has dominated the races held by the club so far this season, was lauded on Facebook for timing the event.

Blizzard’s next event will be their weekly Thursday time trial on June 13th, set to start at 7:00 p.m. at Baldonnel School.
