Alberata's Wildrose Party has launched an interesting new campaign asking Progressive Conservatives to leave their party and to 'come on over.'

On Saturday, the province's right-leaning official opposition posted this video to YouTube.

While all political party ads aim to win over supporters, this one is unique in its directness.

Duane Bratt, a political science professor at Mount Royal University, says it's an interesting tactic.

"I have never seen a video like this before," he told Yahoo! Canada News.

"But you have to remember the vast majority of Wildrose MLAs, organizers, and voters were ex-PCers. [From the video], Forsythe was in Cabinet, Anderson was an up and comer. Only Joe Anglin - who ran as a Green in 2008 - doesn't appear to have ties to the PCs."

The video comes just one week after a PC party convention where Premier Redford received a 77 per cent vote of confidence from delegates.

But Bratt says that the video is more targeted towards Tories who are disgruntled with the province's financial record than those 23 per cent of delegates who voted against the premier.

"It is aimed at the remaining fiscal conservatives within the PC party," he said.

"I also think it goes beyond the people at the PC convention to other supporters and voters of the PC party."

An Angus Reid 'popular premier survey', from September, showed Redford with an approval rating of just 34 per cent while Wildrose leader Danielle Smith had a rating of 47 per cent.
