Conservative MP Guy Lauzon sends condolences for man who is not dead

Other MPs have probably done it too, but it's none the less embarrassing.

According to the Cornwall Free Press, Conservative MP Guy Lauzon's office sent Cornwall, Ont., resident Barrie Brown's daughter a condolence note on Barrie's passing.

"Please accept my sincere condolences for the recent passing of your beloved father," said the handwritten note which looked to be signed by Lauzon.

There was one problem though — Brown is alive and well.

"The rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated," Brown joked with the Cornwall Free Press.

"There [are] two other Barrie Browns according to [Lauzon's] secretary," he said, adding that the secretary sends out condolence cards after reading the obituary section in the local newspaper.

"She says: 'I send out hundreds.' That's a direct quote."
