New Economic Action Plan commercial released: Hints about Budget 2013?

The Harper government has released a new YouTube video just two days before Finance Minister Jim Flaherty tables his budget — dubbed Economic Action Plan 2013 — in the House of Commons.

If the video is any indication, we shouldn't expect to see any new goodies.

There's been a lot speculation over the past couple of weeks about what Flaherty will do.

Both the Liberals and the NDP have called on the government to not introduce an austere budget.

Most, however, expect it to be a 'stay the course' the budget with no significant new spending.

On Tuesday, the Globe and Mail obtained a letter from Flaherty to the Conservative caucus outlining what they can expect. One of the major themes of budget, he wrote, will be job skills training.

"There are too many jobs that go unfilled in Canada because employers can’t find workers with the right skills. Training in Canada is not sufficiently aligned to the skills employers need," notes the letter.

"We can do better… we will take steps to address this important issue."

Renewing infrastructure spending for cities and supporting value-added manufacturing will be the other major focuses.
