"The only exciting thing about me is the fact that Canadians are excited and that's what matters."

Justin Trudeau

The Liberal Party has released a slick new video featuring Justin Trudeau with the victor of a 'win a BBQ dinner with Justin and four of your friends' summer fundraising contest.

The video — which resembles a long-form American style campaign ad — was posted to the party website and on Youtube on Monday.

The Conservatives have railed against Trudeau subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, accusing him of being of a leader of little substance. And there's some evidence that the attacks are actually influencing public opinion. According to a recent survey, Canadians are unsure about Trudeau's competency.

The video might not convince people that he has a lot of substance but it does help define his strength as seen by Liberal strategists: The strength being that Trudeau is able to 'connect' with regular Canadians. Hey — he 'drinks beer.'

If you missed out on the first contest, you can enter still enter your name in the second 'have dinner with Justin' draw.

"These dinners are what our movement is all about — one small action bringing us together, and strengthening our movement for change in Canada," Trudeau said, according to the Liberal website.

"And with just days left to fundraise before the books close on the third fundraising quarter of the year — a time when we get measured against the Conservatives, and the NDP — I need you to take action now."

Details of the contest can be found here.
