Will and Kate send message of support to Alberta flood victims

Now isn't this nice.

Prince William has penned a letter conveying his support to the victims of the Alberta floods.

The statement made through the Canadian Secretary to The Queen was published Monday afternoon on the PMO website.

Catherine and I have been saddened to learn of the deaths and destruction caused by the unprecedented flooding throughout the Province of Alberta.

Please pass on our best wishes to the Lieutenant-Governor and Premier of Alberta and to the brave emergency services and all those volunteering to help their neighbours during this on-going period of intense efforts. Please be assured of our continued thoughts and prayers for all those caught up in the flooding.

William — the Duke of Cambridge — and Kate visited Alberta during their Canadian royal tour in 2011. The royal couple paid visits to Banff National Park, Slave Lake and Calgary.

Both Alberta Premier Alison Redford and Prime Minister Stephen Harper thanked the Royals for their thoughts via Twitter.

Very much appreciate the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge for their support of those affected by #abflood http://t.co/6zFWqK5fJl

I would like to thank The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge for their prayers & kind words of support. http://t.co/46jQGqBV13 #abflood — Stephen Harper (@pmharper) June 24, 2013

Others on Twitter, however, decided to make light of the Prince's "best wishes" to his loyal 'subjects.'

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, aka William and Kate, offer support to folks in Calgary. Maybe they'll name their baby "Alberta". — Paul Waldie (@pwaldieGLOBE) June 24, 2013

@josh_wingrove @lizchurchto #abflood As a show of solidarity they'll be asking us for less money this year while they pimp their baby? Nope.
