Liberal MP Justin Trudeau to take part in charity boxing match

For years, Canadians have watched the Liberals and the Conservatives spar against each other in the political arena.

Now we get a chance to see them duke it out in a boxing ring.

Liberal MP Justin Trudeau and Conservative Senator Patrick Brazeau have agreed to don the mitts for a charity boxing event on March 31.

The fight, which will help raise money to increase "survivorship" among cancer patients, will be a full-fledged, 3-3 minute rounds, Olympic-style battle.

According to one of the event organizers, the combatants will wear head gear.

"They get hurt, some guys are knocked down, some guys are knocked out — it's pretty cool, actually," Rob Imbeault told the National Post about past events.

On paper Brazeau seems to have the advantage. The 37 year old Senator is three years younger than "pretty boy Trudeau" and has a martial arts background in karate.

"I have been training since late November," Brazeau told Yahoo! Canada News.

"I believe the smack talk will increase as we get closer to the event, and yes, I am confident I can beat Mr. Trudeau."

If Trudeau has any chance he will have to utilize his slight height advantage and rely on his genes - while Justin has never fought in the ring, his father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, had.

"[My father] got suspended from school a couple of times as a kid for having boxed," Justin told CTV News.

"He was always a little smaller than some of the other kids so he decided he was going to train."

Interestingly, Justin challenged some 'lighter-weights', before agreeing to take on the athletic looking Brazeau.

Trudeau, notes the Post, asked Defence Minister Peter MacKay and Tory MP Rob Anders to fight, but both Conservatives said they were too busy to train.
