Ontario PCs release their first attack ads against Kathleen Wynne

She hasn't had her first caucus meeting yet as leader and probably doesn't even have her new business cards ordered.

But Ontario premier-designate Kathleen Wynne is already being attacked by the opposition.

Less than 24 hours after the Ontario Liberals elected Wynne as their new leader, the province's PCs released their first series of attack ads against her titled 'Another McGuinty-Liberal Ontario can't afford.'

Political analyst Gerry Nicholls suggests that characterizing the long-serving MPP and cabinet minister as another spendthrift Liberal is probably a smart move.

"New Ontario PC radio ads are not bad (maybe a little cluttered)," Nicholls Tweeted.

"[They] set the tone for how they will attack Wynne"

The ads were posted on the Party's website on Sunday along with this caption:

"Today, the Ontario PC Party launched a new radio entitled “Kathleen Wynne: Another McGuinty Liberal Ontario Can’t Afford.”

The new ad will begin airing in markets across Ontario and will tell Ontario residents the truth about Kathleen Wynne’s record as McGuinty’s right hand.

If you want these ads to stay on the air, you need to take action now — please donate $25 or whatever you can afford and help us run these ads across the province."

Some observers will invariably bemoan yet another use of the 'political attack ad.'

But they seem to work — otherwise why would our political parties continue to utilize them?
