Sofia Vergara and her son Manolo kick back in the Big Apple

While Sofia Vergara decides whether or not to fully rekindle her relationship with on-again, off-again boyfriend Nick Loeb, she's been spending time with a more stable male figure in her life: her son Manolo.

On Monday, the "Modern Family" star was outfitted in a bright yellow shirt, which was tied at the waist to show a little tummy, jeans, and platform sandals for a stroll in New York City with the 19-year-old college student and some other family members. The Colombian-born star licked a vanilla ice cream cone as they walked around the Soho section of the city and shopped. In one store, the single mom held a button-down shirt against her grown son to see if her "little boy" looked good in it. He walked out of the store carrying a bag, so mom must have approved!

Later in the day, Vergara, 39, put a cream colored shrug over her yellow shirt and snacked on a bag of cherries that were in her purse while the group continued to stroll the city streets. They ended up going out for dinner with Vergara tweeting, "Monday night dinner with favorite people!!!"

While things on the home front seem swell, Vergara's love life is much more complicated. After ending her relationship with Loeb in May — and going on a fabulous trip with friends and family to celebrate her singledom — she started spending time with the businessman again. But around the time she was seen holding hands with him in New York City, a wild tabloid tale alleged that Loeb, who considered running for U.S. Senate last year, had cheated on Vergara during their relationship — with prostitutes! He issued a stern denial of the story to Page Six, saying: "I am mortified that false illicit behavior has been attributed to me. It's hurtful and unfair. My first priority is to protect the people I love, and I hope they are not impacted by these lies and irresponsible reports."

Vergara is currently on hiatus from "Modern Family," which will resume shooting this summer. Last night the show was up for Best Comedy Series at the 2nd Annual Critics' Choice Television Awards but lost to "Community." However, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell picked up awards in the supporting categories. While Vergara wasn't there to support her friends in person, she did send Bowen some love via Twitter, telling her she looked "beautifuuuull" in her Marchesa gown.
