From V-steam to bee venom therapy: Gwyneth Paltrow's bizarre beauty treatments

Celebrity News

Gwyneth Paltrow, who has become inextricably linked to bizarre beauty regimens, is now promoting V-steams, spa treatments that heat up women's nether regions.

Thanks for sharing, Gwyn.

The "Mortdecai" star wrote on her website about the Tikkun Holistic Spa in Santa Monica, where the Korean Mugworth V-Steam invites you to sit on "a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al."

To her credit, Paltrow seemed at least slightly aware that her fans might not be that open to it (so to speak), so she talked it up further.

"It is an energetic release — not just a steam douche — that balances female hormone levels," she said. "If you’re in L.A., you have to do it."

Over the years, the 42-year-old actress has revealed many strange beauty treatments she has received. Here are some other examples of her bizarre health choices:

Bee venom therapy
In a 2014 interview with Marie Claire, Paltrow admitted this was a reach even for her. "The craziest treatment I've ever tried is when I was stung by a live bee," she said. "It's called apitherapy and it's apparently been used since Egyptian times to promote healing."

Oil pulling
Last year, Paltrow told E! News about her new discovery. "I just started 'oil pulling,' which is when you swish coconut oil around for 20 minutes, and it's supposed to be great for oral health and making your teeth white," she said. Shailene Woodley is another proponent of this treatment.

Back in 2013, Paltrow told Harper's Bazaar about this "quite painful" facial treatment. "It feels like someone's smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it," she said. "But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face."

Intravenous vitamins
That same year, the Oscar winner admitted to The Telegraph that she gets vitamins mainlined into her system. "As soon as I arrive in LA after a long flight, I head to the Be Hive of Healing, a holistic healing centre in Santa Monica, to see Dr Habib Sadeghi, the founder. He gives me an IV full of vitamins, which is incredible," Paltrow said.

After all that, we would have frankly been surprised had Paltrow not tried the V-Steam!
