Ireland Baldwin’s 4 Unlikely Tattoos, in Order of Strangeness

Just because Ireland Baldwin inherited her mom's all-American good looks doesn't mean she's a cookie-cutter beauty — just ask her tattoo artist(s).

The 18-year-old offspring of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin has blond hair, blue eyes, and a bevy of tattoos. Hadn't noticed? Maybe that's because we're always so focused on how stunning she is much she reminds us of her mom that we simply overlook her penchant for ink — but it's not like she's been keeping it a secret.

Ireland got her first tattoo when she was only 16. She was living in Los Angeles with her mother at the time — and yes, last time we checked (five minutes ago), the legal age to get a tattoo in the Golden State is still 18.

Her first tattoo might have been the most rebellious, but it's far from the most memorable. And in honor of her latest ink, here's a quick guide to get you up to speed on all of Miss Baldwin's tattoos, ranked from the very standard, to the very strange.

4. Truth: Besides the fact that she was underage when she got it, Ireland's first tattoo is pretty unremarkable. It's the word "truth" inscribed just below the nape of her neck. Easily covered by her long locks, it was first spotted when Ireland was out on the town with her boyfriend on the eve of her father's wedding to Hilaria, back in June 2012. As it turns out, however, the model was just getting her feet wet in the world of ink.

3. Lotus: In Nov. 2013, Ireland unveiled another tattoo: a lotus flower on her forearm. The Buddhist symbol was done in an Art Deco style and featured three dots and one solitary teardrop by its side. While spiritual symbols are no doubt popular choices for tattoos, its unique styling and prominent placement (for a model, especially) made it a rather bold choice.

2. Arrow: The blond bombshell rang in her 18th birthday in October with more ink, and this time she made it count with a sizeable arrow on her upper left arm. Though she captioned her Instagram post with a simple "good morning," it sparked immediate references to both "The Hunger Games" and its heroine, Katniss Everdeen. And while the franchise certainly has countless fervent fans, we're not so sure many of them would brand their own bodies with a movie prop for life.

1. Bra: Perhaps of all of Ireland's tattoos, however, the one that's going to raise the most eyebrows is her latest. It's lacy. It has a bow. And it's a bra. It's also located oddly close to her lotus flower. (We're not sure how the Buddhist ideals mix with lingerie.) Though she seems to like it, others had mixed feelings. While some people wondered if it was fake (probably because Ireland did sport some temporary tattoos to Coachella one year), others urged her to hold off on getting any more markings. We have to say, judging from her rather... unpredictable... choices, we think that might be sound advice.
