Lorde can no longer say she's never seen a diamond in the flesh. After winning International Video of the Year for "Royals" at the Much Music Video Awards on Sunday, the 17-year-old singer had an even better day on Monday as she watched dad Vic O'Connor propose to Lorde's mom, Sonja Yelich, at Niagara Falls.

Lorde's poet mom couldn't help posting an image of the ring in question, one her daughter could be proud of: a cluster of diamonds surrounding a sizable black stone.

"Best day of my life," Yelich wrote.

The teen singer's performance on Sunday of "Tennis Court" and "Team" was a big hit, even spawning a Twitter account for the lamp she caressed during the show.

"It takes a certain energy to succeed in front of a lot of people," Lorde said following her set. "It's something I've had to learn. Communicating with one person is one thing but trying to communicate with the whole world is very different."
