They dated?! Aaron Carter wants Hilary Duff back, 11 years after their relationship

Aaron Carter and Hilary Duff dated more than a decade ago, but the former pop star recently referred to the 26-year-old "Lizzie McGuire" alum as "the love of my life."

"I don't know who she is today, she doesn't know who I am today, but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance to again and fix what I did wrong," Carter told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday.

Last month was the first time the 26-year-old "I Want Candy" singer made advances toward his ex. On March 4, he retweeted a photo of Duff, who split from her husband, Mike Comrie, in January.

"Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me…" Carter wrote.

As a 13-year-old music star, Carter met Duff when he made his acting debut in 2001 in "Lizzie McGuire." They began dating soon after but broke up in 2003 after Carter started seeing a young Lindsay Lohan around the same time followed by Duff's best friend.

"I started dating Hilary on my 13th birthday. I was dating her for like a year-and-a-half and then I just got a little bored so I went and I started getting to know Lindsay, dating Lindsay," Carter explained on "The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch" in 2005. "Then I didn't want to do that anymore, so I got back with Hilary. And then I ended up cheating on Hilary with her best friend. That's nothing to smile about. [Her friend] wasn't even that good looking either."

According to Carter, he and Duff "reconvened" three years later, when they were 19, for lunch. "She's just a great girl, you know," he told Entertainment Tonight, "the one that got away."

But in 2007, a year after she reunited with Carter, Duff started dating NHL star Mike Comrie. The couple wed in 2010 and welcomed a son, Luca, two years later. Though they separated in January, they were seen together once again at the Coachella music festival earlier this month.

Duff has not responded to Carter's advances.
