Welcome to the new 55-Yard Line CFL super power rankings. Every Thursday we'll look back at the previous week and look ahead to the upcoming week, and rank the best teams, quarterbacks or anything else we see fit to rank.

After Week 4, there's a new No. 1 and we find ourselves asking "Just how bad is the East Division?".

Team rankings:

1.

Edmonton Eskimos (4-0; Previous: 3) - The Eskimos leap frog the Bombers and Stamps to grab the No. 1 spot in the Yahoo Canada Sports rankings. They had an impressive win over the previously unbeaten Blue Bombers, on the road, and it was a blowout to boot. They have both their offence and defence clicking right now. They look like they're for real.

2.

Calgary Stampeders (3-0; Previous: 2) - They had a chance at the No. 1 spot, but their win over the Ticats was nothing to write home about (they were a botched field goal away from heading to overtime with the winless Ticats). As impressive as they've been, their injury situation keeps getting worse: On Wednesday they placed reigning MOP Jon Cornish on the six-game disabled list.

3.

B.C. Lions (2-2; Previous: 5) - What a difference a couple of weeks makes. After they complained of the Alouettes "running up the score" and I placed them dead last in the rankings, the Lions responded with back-to-back wins by a combined score of 67-18. The Kevin Glenn-Emmanuel Arceneaux connection is starting to look very dangerous.

4.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-1; Previous: 1) - The bubble burst in Winnipeg after getting badly beaten at home by the Eskimos. It will be interesting to see how rookie coach Mike O'Shea and his players respond to their first loss of the season.

5.

Ottawa Redblacks (1-2; Previous: 9) - Is this, an expansion team, the best team in the East Division? Surely not, but they get the honour this week thanks to earning their first win in franchise history. Their win over the Argos wasn't pretty but it showed they might have a decent home-field advantage going forward.

6.

Toronto Argonauts (1-3; Previous: 4) - This is the team I've pegged to be the best in the East over the long haul, but they're really struggling right now. Injuries and adjusting to new personnel are a big part of it, but they need to right the ship soon.

7.

Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-2; Previous: 7) - They lost two games in a row heading into the bye week.

8.

Montreal Alouettes (1-3; Previous: 6) - They were brutal in an ugly 41-5 loss to the Lions. The offence was bad, gaining a meagre 153 yards including 62 through the air - almost unheard-of in the three-down game. The defence was just as bad, giving up 526 yards of offence. They get the bye week to try to figure things out.

9.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-3; Previous: 8) - They hung in with the Stampeders on the road, which is admirable. Botching a game-tying field goal attempt in the final seconds, however, gets you in the cellar in these rankings.

Quarterback rankings:

1. Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders (Previous: 1) - Make it 6-0 as a starter. This one was probably his least impressive though. He threw for 201 yards on 20-of-35 passing. Injuries means he's running out of targets. He's still the guy you want starting a big game right now.

2. Mike Reilly, Eskimos (Previous: 4) - With one exception there wasn't much offence in Week 4, so Reilly had a relatively quiet night. But he did more than enough to jump a couple spots in our QB rankings. In addition to his 192 passing yards and touchdown, he rushed for 96 yards.

3. Ricky Ray, Argonauts (Previous: 3) - It's hard to fault him for the Argos' recent woes. Against Ottawa he threw his first two interceptions of the year (one a desperation heave on the final play of the game), but he's also missing his three favourite targets in Chad Owens, Jason Barnes, and Andre Durie.

4. Drew Willy, Blue Bombers (Previous: 2) - Came back to earth a bit in the loss to Edmonton. He threw a pick-six, was sacked five times and completed only 14 passes for 180 yards.

5.

Kevin Glenn, Lions (Previous: 7) - He's heating up after a really rough first two weeks. He threw for 301 yards and two touchdown passes before leaving with a minor injury. When he went down, John Beck picked up where he left off, throwing for two touchdowns of his own.

6. Henry Burris, Redblacks (Previous: 8) - He quietly had a solid game in Ottawa's first win. He didn't throw for a touchdown but was effective in throwing for 216 yards on 56 percent passing. And if you watch this Mic'd Up feature on TSN, you'll see that he's the team's leader on and off the field.

7. Darian Durant, Roughriders (Previous: 6) - He slips a bit on account of having a bye week. Like his teammates, he needs to bounce back from two consecutive losses.

8. Troy Smith (Previous: 5) - Another really ugly outing for the Als' first-year starter and Anthony Calvillo's replacement. He completed just five passes for 45 yards. He was replaced by Tanner Marsh who didn't fare much better. But suddenly Smith's grasp on the starting job is slipping.

9. Hamilton trio (Previous: 9) - Time for the reigning East Division champs to panic. With Zach Collaros injured, Jeremiah Masoli started and was ineffective. Dan LeFevour took over and was accurate but still couldn't find the end zone. The Ticats announced Thursday that LeFevour will start against Ottawa.

Coming up in Week 5:

Calgary at Edmonton, Thursday, 9 ET -- The Alberta rivals are both unbeaten. Edmonton boasts the league's best defence, including a league-high 18 sacks. The Stamps on the other hand do a great job of protecting Mitchell, having surrendered only three sacks. Calgary has been winning despite all its injuries. Maybe this week, on the road, is when it finally catches up to them. Pick: Eskimos.

Winnipeg at B.C., Friday, 10 ET -- The Bombers need to get their offence on the field and do a better job of protecting Willy to bounce after last week's loss. The resurgent Lions are on fire offensively and this one could turn into an offensive shootout. Pick: Lions.

Ottawa at Hamilton, Saturday, 7 ET -- Fresh off its first win in franchise history, Ottawa tries to make it two in a row against the only winless team in the CFL. The Tiger-Cats return "home" after playing their opening three games on the road. Home this week though is Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University. Sort-of-home-field advantage may not be enough for the struggling reigning Eastern champs. Pick: Redblacks.

Toronto at Saskatchewan, Saturday, 10 ET -- This is their second meeting of the year already, with the Argos winning big in Toronto in Week 2. The Roughriders are coming off a bye week following two consecutive losses. The Argos offence is in flux without three big stars mentioned above. Rowdy home crowd may be the difference. Pick: Roughriders.

Picks -- Last week: 3-1; Season: 6-6

Bye: Montreal -- A week off to lick their wounds and figure out what to do under centre. Paging Anthony Calvillo.
