It looks like James Franco has added yet another talent to his list of skills. In addition to acting, creative writing, art, film making, theatre directing, music, and academia, Franco can now officially put down lip-synching on his résumé.
Franco, 34, posted a homemade video online this week that showed him lip-synching to Justin Bieber's hit song "Boyfriend." In the darkly lit video, Franco poses as Bieber in a hoodie, baseball cap, and a shiny shag wig as he "sings" to the camera, while his rumoured girlfriend, 23-year-old "Pretty Little Liars" actress Ashley Benson, dons a darker-hued hairpiece and flirtatiously dances around him.
Franco sings "If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go" -- but the video comes at a time when it looks like Justin Bieber is no longer the boyfriend of Selena Gomez, his gal pal of over two years. Benson, Gomez, and Franco know each other well after working together in the movie "Spring Breakers," but their friendship was reportedly strained after Benson and Franco paired up when filming was over. Benson apparently broke the heart of Bieber's former "swag coach" Ryan Good when she allegedly left him for Franco, and Gomez and Bieber reportedly took the breakup personally.
Now that things are rocky for 18-year-old Bieber and 20-year-old Gomez, Franco and Benson's video could be seen as a jab at a seemingly perfect romance that turned sour. Franco obviously stands in for Bieber, while Benson, trading her blonde locks for a brunette shade, could be referencing Gomez. A second unknown brown-wigged costar possibly represents 19-year-old Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin -- you know, the girl caught in the middle of Gomez and Bieber's relationship trouble in late 2012.
Franco and Benson's cover video is quite a bit racier than the viral video Gomez and Bieber made in 2012 that helped launch "Call Me Maybe" to monumental success. Much of the video takes place in a bedroom, with Benson and the mystery girl rolling around suggestively.
With this post, Franco and Benson could be heralding a new era in celebrity bickering -- feuds via viral video!
