"Twilight" is over, but another blockbuster book-turned-movie franchise with a butt-kicking heroine is still very much alive! Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss in "The Hunger Games," spent Monday swimming and shooting a bow and arrow as she and the cast of "Catching Fire," the sequel to "The Hunger Games," filmed in Hawaii. Lawrence, as well as cute co-star Josh Hutcherson, donned wetsuits to take to the water, and she once again armed herself with her signature weapon.
While the 22-year-old actress makes it all look easy on screen, Lawrence has confessed that working out is not something that comes naturally. "I hate [other people] saying, 'I like exercising.' I want to punch people who say that in the face," Lawrence told Glamour in April. "But it's nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It's like, 'Here's your trainer. This is what you can eat.'"
Before filming "The Hunger Games," Lawrence trained with an archery instructor, and spent six weeks with conditioning coach Dr. Joe Horrigan. As Horrigan explained to Us Weekly in March, Lawrence's workouts focused on agility drills and sprints. "Jennifer did all of these drills," noted Horrigan. "And she just kept getting better and better until after one day, she turned around and said, 'I got it!'"
But no amount of preparation could prepare Lawrence for the kind of fame she's experiencing as a result of taking on the high-profile role. Fans are already counting down to the "Catching Fire" release on November 22, 2013, and her face graces countless products, such as posters, T-shirts, and even a doll. "In some ways, it's a hard life, but it's a great professional life," Lawrence shared in her interview with Glamour. "I'm doing what I love, and then I get months and months of rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can't stand it when actors complain."
You can currently catch Lawrence on the big screen opposite Bradley Cooper in "Silver Linings Playbook."
