7-year-old gets way too real with homework answer

A young boy’s response to a school assignment will have you wondering how his parents raised such a realist.

Redditor Kaydenmacg posted a photo of her (or his) child’s homework to the site under the title, “My son, age 7, school assignment.”

The assignment required that students create an illustration under the words, “When I am 100 years old, I will look like this!”

Kaydenmacg says that while “most of the kids drew long hair/beards,” her son chose instead to depict himself in a coffin, buried a solid six feet under. The drawing even shows two flowers growing up from his resting place, leading one to believe that this precocious seven year old is familiar with the term “pushing up daisies.”

It might also make you wonder, “What’s up with this kid?”

In his defence, it is a pretty weird question for a seven-year-old. Most of us will likely be dead before we hit 100, so perhaps his response is more of an illustrated slap in the face to the educational establishment for asking him something so silly.

On the other hand, maybe it’s not such a terrible question. Research has found that about half of children born in 2009 in developed nations — like our little artist — will live to be 100. In which case this drawing is taking a rather pessimistic “glass half empty” stance.

Whatever the case, we hope he got an A.
