Vintage geeks or modern day hipsters?

An Alabama couple shared their awesomely awkward engagement photos and the Internet loves them.

Patricia Forrest was tired of looking at the typical engagement photos her friends and family had been releasing, and wanted to do something different when she and Andrew Ziroli decided to tie the knot.

“I didn’t want us standing in a forest holding hands, with a flower or something,” she told AL.com.

Their photographer Vic Vergara pitched the couple the idea of a vintage inspired 70s theme for their shoot, and they jumped on board.

“We knew we wanted to do something different,” Forrest, 30, told ABC News.

The couple went to a thrift store where they found their perfect alter ego outfits: a mix of synthetic fabrics, coke bottle glasses and some vintage geek-chic.

“It kind of just came to us once we found those outfits,” Forest said. “We came home and put them on and looked at each other and started crying laughing.”

The couple named their personas Uncle Earl E. and Tammy Tootie, to facilitate staying in character.

The photos were posted last week on Forest’s Facebook page and have been viewed by more than 100,000 people.

The couple posted some “regular” engagement photos, but people don’t seem to be too interested in Patricia and Andrew when “Earl” and “Tammy” are around.
