Broken carrier leads to lost and found felines at Vancouver airport

Willow the cat went missing in Vancouver airport's cargo area

Good news for Vancouver resident Kelli Seepaul, after an Air Canada employee discovered one of her missing cats had wandered up to a person at Vancouver's airport.

"WestJet called me at around 5:15, 5:30 this morning. I mean I'm really happy, grateful and relieved."

Seepaul had planned to take her kitties on a flight to Toronto on Thursday, but a worker dropped the cat carrier and the cats promptly escaped. Both were eventually recovered, with Willow the cat being found this morning by an Air Canada employee.

"We understand she was located by an Air Canada worker in one of the baggage areas sometime in the wee hours of this morning," said a statement released by the company.

Seepaul's parents are picking the cat up from the airport this morning. Willow will get a quick look-over by a vet, then be flown to Toronto free of additional charge by WestJet.

The cat was one of two Seepaul was taking with her while moving to Toronto. She was about to board her plane when the airline paged her to say both cats had escaped, after baggage handlers picked up their kennel and the bottom fell out of it.

Seepaul says she is satisfied with the attention the lost cat, which she adopted from a shelter in Squamish, got from WestJet.

"I'm really happy with the updates they gave me, and what they did to find her."
