Shandess and Jason Griffin from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, knew that their special day would include their dogs – a Samoyed named Zero, Bernese mountain dogs names Holden and Arbor and an Australian Shepherd mix named Navi – Metro News reports.

So among the wedding guests were their four beloved dogs, who even joined the newlyweds in their first dance.

Their nuptials became quite a viral hit when Shandess posted the wedding photos on her Facebook page.

“It was kind of always in my mind that whomever I married, dogs would have to be a part of it,” Shandess told Metro News.

“They actually helped him ask me to marry him,” she told Metro, explaining how her husband tied messages around the dogs’ necks when he popped the question.

For their September wedding, the four dogs got pampered and dressed up with custom-made bowties, BuzzFeed reports.

It was suppose to be a beach ceremony and the four dogs were going to escort the bridesmaids down the aisle, but due to the rain the wedding was moved indoors.

The restaurant staff at the wedding venue were reluctant to break their no dog policy, but ended up changing their minds, BuzzFeed reports. They allowed the four dogs to wander inside the entire night.

“My dogs are my babies. They come to work with me, they’re my life,” Shandess told BuzzFeed. “When Jason came along, he changed everything. I was finally able to trust someone else with my dogs.”

The happy couple are ready to expand their family, according to 9news. They will welcome their fifth dog next month.
