Canadian 'Samurai Guitarist‘ does a great one-man-band cover of Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World’

Some of the stuff that the musicians of YouTube are able to pull off and showcase to the world is really astounding, especially considering most are doing it on their own.

You may remember the young woman who made a great Michael Jackson cover using a guitar loop pedal. That’s a device that records sounds that are stored as a loop to be played continuously while you add more sounds on top.

Well, “samuraiguitarist,” otherwise known as Manitoba’s Steve Onotera, has just used the same technique to create a one-man-band performance of Daft Punk’s “Around the World.”

Watch him compose the main beat step-by-step by adding each instrument to the arrangement. He cleverly times the transitions between the sections of the song to include whichever instruments are needed for each part. His smart video editing shows you which instruments are “live” during each section.

That’s a lot of buttons to press if you’re familiar with the process of looping pedals, but even if you’re not, the performance itself is still impressive on its own.
