A car in Russia was nearly torn in half in what may go down as the worst towing job in history.

Fiat owner Vladislav Rybin was driving along in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, minding his business, when the front of his vehicle pitched forward, reports the website Truckyeah.jalopnik.com. Rybin found himself stuck in a sinkhole that had suddenly appeared thanks to a busted sewer line below.

It wasn’t long before a couple of towing vehicles from the cumbersomely named Ministry of the Russian Federation for Affairs for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters came along to rescue Rybin from a situation that was basically of their making.

The first truck failed to move the car at all, so a second attempt was made with a different towing vehicle. This time, the truck tears the car’s rear axel right out of the car.

Truckyeah reports that Rybin’s Fiat was eventually pulled out of the hole, but he’ll be seeking damages from the Ministry for the damage that they did.

Tow truck disasters are not unique to Russia, although it does seem like they happen more in winter. In this video from 2010, a tow truck attempts to pull a stranded snow plow past a row of vehicles parked along a narrow road. The driver manages to destroy everything in his path, as horrified onlookers scream and yell at him to stop.

In another video, the driver manages to right a car laying on its side, only for the car to roll off a cliff.

So the next time your car gets towed, don’t get angry. Just think to yourself, “At least they didn’t rip it in half.”
