CNN’s news ticker makes easy (but incorrect) assumption about Rob Ford

If you find it hard to believe that Rob Ford is still Toronto's mayor, you're not alone.

Whoever was writing the CNN news ticker on Wednesday night made the easy assumption that Toronto's embattled "crack-smoking mayor" was no longer in office.

A photo of the screen crawl posted to Twitter revealed the error:

The Grid writes off the error as an honest mistake:

"Presumably … whoever typed in the crawl assumed a resignation would be so automatic given the news reported back then that it wasn’t even worth looking up."

Yes, the caption was a lazy one, but having a news station assume you're out of a job isn't nearly as horrifying as being incorrectly identified as a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing. Just ask Zooey Deschanel.
