CNN reporter gets hit in the head with a rock during live broadcast

Riot areas can quickly turn into war zones. And reporters covering the events can get caught in the crossfire.

That's exactly what happened to CNN reporter Sara Sidner, reporting live from the streets of Ferguson, Missouri on Monday night.

As she started her live report, Sidner got hit in the head by a thrown rock.

Sidner was standing across from the street of a local business that had recently caught fire.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper was quick to confirm that Sidner was OK before continuing.

"I'm OK, I'm OK," Sidner said. "I've been hit with much worse in my day."

With more rocks appearing on-screen, Tapper advised Sidner find shelter after her report.

"There are obviously some really bad people near you and we want to get you to safety."

The uprising in Ferguson was spurred by a grand jury's decision not to prosecute officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing unarmed black teen Michael Brown.
