Couldn’t see that coming: Edward Cocaine gets charged with drug possession

A Florida judge couldn’t keep from laughing in his courtroom at a man charged with drug possession on Wednesday.

He wasn’t laughing at the fact that the man had been caught with drugs, because obviously that’s no laughing matter. Unless, of course, the man’s name is Edward Cocaine.

Well, the man’s name was Edward Cocaine, and Judge John ‘Jay’ Hurley found the irony in the whole thing simply hilarious.

Giggles ensued throughout the courtroom when Judge Hurley had to do a double upon first hearing the culprit’s name before he said, “What?”

“My last name is Cocaine,” said the man with pride.

It was discovered that “Cocaine” was indeed his legal name, dating back to his great-grandparents who came to America from Greece in the 1920s.

The judge laughed, stating that he’d thought he had seen it all and asked Cocaine how many times police have asked him to step out of his car.

“Just about every time I get pulled over,” was Cocaine’s response. Well, with a name like ‘Cocaine’, what did you expect to happen?

As fitting as it would be for the drug Cocaine was charged with possession of was actually cocaine, but alas it was not. Cocaine was actually arrested for illegal possession of Xanax, a drug normally used to treat anxiety.
