Councilman forgets to turn off his mic during washroom break, embarrassing gaffe goes viral

It’s safe to assume that this unidentified Texas councilman has never seen The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.

It appears the councilman paid little attention to this incriminating story — or this embarrassing story. If he had, he would have known to turn off his microphone when he left a meeting for a quick washroom break.

Instead, his trip to the men’s room was heard loud and clear during Georgetown’s mayor pro tem Rachael Jonrowe’s passionate speech about infectious diseases. (Had the councilman heard the session, he might have bothered to wash his hands after relieving himself, something he apparently neglected to do, according to the broadcasted sounds from inside the lavatory.)

Jonrowe did her best to stifle her giggles as she continued her way through her proposal. Only when she heard the toilet flush did she essentially surrender.

“I’m going to stop talking now and ask that you give this serious consideration and approve this resolution,” Jonrowe, laughing, managed to blurt out as the offending councilman returned to his seat.

According to Mashable, Jonrowe was “not immediately available for comment or additional information. But we have to admit, she handled it really well.”
