Dad's amusing exchange with a stranger about paint for his daughter's room takes the internet by storm

What do you do when you get a random irritated text from a stranger asking what colour he should paint his daughter’s bedroom? You give him professional interior design advice, obviously.

It appears an American father got into a little bit of an argument with his child’s mother over what colour was best fitted for their young one’s bedroom and tried to relate his dismay to a friend.

The amusing exchange (that was thankfully posted anonymously to Imgur) all starts when the father accidentally messages an unknown person/style guru saying ‘D’ won’t let him paint the room blue because it’s not a girl colour.

After the natural, ‘Wrong number..’, ‘My bad..’, ‘It’s all good…’ you’d expect in similar errant-text situations, the father decides to seek more advice.

“You think like turquoise or that periwinkle **** for a 3yr old?” he asks.

“I think a more toned down turquoise. Not too loud, because bedrooms are supposed to be chill, you know?” the stranger replies.

At this point the dad is realizing his errant-text may have gone to the right person after all, so he sends a picture of the colour he’s thinking of – which is neither periwinkle nor turquoise – and asks again for the stranger’s thoughts.

“That’s pretty. It could be a little dark though, depending on the size of the room and the furniture,” replies the new found style advisor.

Dad then sends a message back saying the room is a good size and the furniture is white and is “the kind that looks all woven together.”

After being told that’s called "wicker" and him saying it’s a dust trap, the pair decide to do the darker shade on the wall opposing the window and then a lighter shade on the remaining walls.

“My baby girl’s gonna have her blue room and it’s gonna look tight as hell,” the father said.

After a few standard thank yous and goodbyes, the mystical home decor specialist was gone.

There’s still no word who the mystery advisor is but he or she may be called on again for advice on what curtains they should put up on that window.
