Dashboard camera captures children hit by car in Russia

The road rage attacker who was caught on a dashboard camera smashing the windscreen of a former police officer has been sentenced today.

Another video shot from the dashboard camera of a Russian car has captured one of the dramatic moments that are coming to define driving in the world's largest country.

Footage shows the moment of impact as a vehicle hits two children who are crossing the street with an adult, presumably their mother. The car travels down a one-way street heading in the wrong direction when a woman in a yellow coat steps out in front of the vehicle.

Her two children walk onto the road first and the car hits them, throwing the children onto the pavement and sending the little girl's glasses flying. But the kids are able to stand up immediately after the collision.

Their mother runs over and picks up the youngest as the older girl stops in the middle of the road to put her head into her hands in distress.

The Telegraph reported the children weren't seriously injured.

Dash cameras are popular on Russia's congested roads to combat insurance fraud and provide visual evidence in traffic court cases. The result is an impressive collection of YouTube videos documenting everything from crashes to people helping the elderly cross the street.

Even cattle in the throes of love must be careful where they hold their trysts, as evidenced by this Russian dash cam video of what happens when a cow hits your windshield.

If you're crossing the street in Russia, moo-ove quickly.
