Deep-fried cereal debuts at San Diego fair
We can only hope it makes its way to Canadian summer fairs
I'm surprised I could walk out of the Canadian National Exhibition last year after eating a doughnut burger, a deep-fried snickers bar and deep-fried mac n' cheese. While my stomach may have had issues for a few days afterward, I'm ready to dive in again this year.
We don't know exactly what foods will be featured at the CNE this year, but some new deep-fried creations have just started making the rounds of summer fairs. Sure these foods have incredible high calorie counts and quite possibly a week's worth of fat, but they are hard to resist.
Deep-fried cereal, made with Trix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, recently debuted at the San Diego fair. The unhealthy treat drizzled with syrup and topped with a few pieces of cereal seems to be the one making the biggest splash so far.

They are created by Charlie Boghosian (Chicken Charlie's), who has also created deep-fried Kool Aid balls and deep-fried Girl Scout cookies among other things on the menu.
While the new twist on breakfast food has a lot of people talking, not everyone is liking what they are eating.
"The pool of grease in the bottom of the basket made me clutch my heart a little, wrote one reviewer for the Imperial Beach Patch website."
The reviewer also writes the snack is one more thing to add to the obesity problem in the U.S. She has a point.

"There is literally ZERO taste in this picture," tweeted Adam Wood along with a picture of a Chicken Charlie's food stand.
Other treats to look out for this year if you happen to be at a state fair include the deep-fried Samoa Girl Scout cookie, pork chops on a stick, and sweet corn ice cream (which comes with an option to cover it with bacon).
