Diver captures terrifying shark attack

Great white shark torments cage diver in incredible video

It only lasted a minute, but even a short encounter with a Great White shark is a terrifying tale.

A group of tourists were cage diving on the coast of Mossel Bay, South Africa, when their GoPro camera captured an 11 and a half foot shark attacking their cage.

Hilary Rae Petroski of New York recently uploaded the video on her YouTube channel, describing the intense moment.

“The round buoy attached to the side of the cage was bent in half. Some of the lining of the outside blue barrier bar was bitten through as well. It was quite the up close and personal experience!” Petroski wrote.

In the clip, the huge shark is seen approaching the diving cage as Petroski comes eye-to-eye with the predator. Her friends can be heard screaming in the background as the shark lunges at the cage with its teeth. It latches onto a blue foam buoy and shakes it hard.

Petroski manages to capture the shark attack above and below water with her camera. The shark is seen turned on its side attempting to force its way into the cage and towards the diver.

Luckily the thin metal bars hold strong and protect Petroski from any harm. The shark eventually gives up and swims away. It did, however, nearly destroy the cage.

According to BuzzFeed, Petroski and her friends were feeding the sharks to attract them and get a closer look at them. That day, they saw eight kinds of sharks. Thankfully no one was injured.

The incredible footage has over five million hits but after watching it, many viewers may think twice before entering a shark diving cage.
