Ed Sheeran surprises young fan with unexpected duet

Ed Sheeran is really one of the nicest guys in entertainment.

The British pop superstar surprised a young fan at the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta this past weekend with an unexpected duet.

Sydney Bourbeau was performing one of Sheeran’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud” at a fundraising event hosted by Resonate Music School & Studio at the mall. The pop star walked out of the HMV store and onto the stage to finish the song with her. Just before leaving, Sheeran hugged the young performer.

“I was like ‘Should I stop?’ I didn’t want to stop, but I wanted to talk to him,” Bourbeau told the Edmonton Journal. “This is, like, the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

At first, the 13-year-old, who has been a big Sheeran fan for years, had no idea what was going on until the crowd started cheering.

Bourbeau showcased her singing skills and kept up with her idol right by her side. She has been taking musical lessons at the Resonate Music School for nearly a year.

The music school also had no idea that the Grammy winner was at the mall that day, reports the online journal. It was there to raise money for the Edmonton Humane Society.

But the biggest shock of all for the young fan was what happened after she finished her duet with Sheeran. Bourbeau received an unexpected text message from the pop star’s manager offering her two tickets to see Sheeran in concert that night at the Rexall Place.

In less than 24 hours, Bourbeau sure got the experience of her lifetime.
