Experience the beauty of spaceflight through the lens of a GoPro

Treat yourself to a breathtaking view of our planet, without all the hassle of training to be an astronaut, thanks to this stunning video footage.

This past November, private spaceflight company UP Aerospace launched a 20-foot-long SL-10 rocket nearly 400,000 feet into the air. The launch was to test the stability and aerodynamics of the rocket’s payload as it re-entered earth’s atmosphere, and luckily a series of cameras caught all the action along the way.

Several GoPro cameras – the same often used to film extreme sports athletes in action – were attached to the rocket’s frame.

Viewers are treated to a wild ride as the rocket reaches an impressive Mach 5.5, as high as 3800 mph, until finally arriving at its destination hundreds of thousands of feet above the surface of the planet.

A stunning view is seen as the rocket floats peacefully above earth’s surface, before finally carrying out its mission and ejecting its payload.

Its a long way back down until the rocket’s parachute is eventually deployed, and the remains can be seen peacefully arriving back home to earth safe and sound.
