Finally, an answer: Are ninjas quieter than Navy SEALs?

Finally, an answer: Are ninjas quieter than Navy SEALs?

A burning question lit the mind of seven-year-old Walker Greentree, one that required the input of a serious professional.

Who is quieter, ninjas or Navy SEALs?

The puzzle arose during an argument with a friend, when Greentree's mother told the boys to be quiet like a SEAL, according to the non-profit Blue Star Families.

"Ninjas are quieter than SEALs," the friend said. A challenge.

Walker decided to settle the dispute by writing Admiral William H. McRaven, the head of the U.S. Special Operations Command who is credited for organizing the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. He also asked the commander how long he could hold his breath. Then Greentree held his breath for a reply, which came at last, with one of McRaven's personal coins in the envelope.

Here's what it said:

To answer your questions: I think ninjas are probably quieter than SEALs, but we are better swimmers, and also better with guns and blowing things up. I can hold my breath for a long time, but I try not to unless I really have to.

Remember, if you want to be a SEAL, you must do two things: listen to your parents and be nice to the other kids. If you do that then you can probably be a SEAL too.

McRaven might have added another point in the way of advice to his young admirer: try not to blow anything up.
