Survey ranks 10 Canadian cities with the sexiest singles

Toronto is home to Canada’s sexiest singles — at least that’s what a survey by matchmaking site Elite Singles claims.

It’s a tricky claim to verify, especially since the survey, which was a sample poll of the site’s 86,000 registered members, was not based on dating experiences but on, well, narcissism.

Elite Singles combed through user data and determined a city’s sexiness by how many singles self-rated themselves as sexy on the site.

“And if nothing else…that kind of confidence is sexy in and of itself, right?” wrote Sarah Laing for Elle Canada.

So if you’re looking for a sexy date, Toronto might be a good bet. Or it might be a place to avoid if vanity’s not your thing — or if self-deprecation is.

The top 10 cities boasting sexy singles are as follows:

1. Toronto

2. Vancouver

3. Victoria

4. Ottawa

5. Calgary

6. Halifax

7. Winnipeg

8. Saskatoon

9. Montreal

10. St. John’s

Of course, this isn’t the first “sexiness” assessment of our country’s singles.

In a 2008 study by speed dating website FastLife.ca, Winnipeg was named Canada’s sexiest city, based on the popularity of the site’s clientele using postal codes. And while EliteSingles just listed Ottawa as having the fourth most-attractive singles in the nation, the FastLife.ca study said the capital was actually the country’s least sexy city.

To be fair, a lot can happen in 7 years. Maybe Ottawa just got more handsome.

And earlier this year, online adult retailer PinkCherry.ca named Kentville, Nova Scotia, as Canada’s sexiest city, based on its sex-toy purchases per capita. Toronto, which topped the list in 2012, didn’t even make the top 25. (Victoria was the only city to make both EliteSingles’ list and PinkCherry.ca’s list this year.)
