The Fox and the Terrier: Animals have a Disney friendship

Rosie the Fox and Maddy the dog outdoors

It's The Fox and the Hound with tennis balls and Wii remotes — a cross-species tale of a terrier and her best friend — Rosie the fox.

Richard Bowler from Wales took in the fox cub in April when she was eight years old, according to his blog, and while she didn't find many similarities in the way of looks with Bowler's pet dog, Maddy, she seems to have gotten past her new friend's lack of pointy ears.

Pictures on the blog show Rosie and Maddy play-fighting with a tennis ball and wandering outside together, almost attached at the fur.

Bowler wrote the fox has been raised by humans since birth because her fox father killed her siblings, leaving her the only survivor.

"She has been a complete joy to look after," he wrote. "Maddy enjoys the company and when the play fighting gets going the living room looks like a war zone at times."

While Maddy isn't a hunting dog like The Fox and the Hound pup, Copper, Bowler wrote that her mother and father were, remarkably, fox-hunting dogs.

Bowler told the Daily Mail Rosie was slowly learning how to live with humans on his five-acre property and she had almost mastered toilet training.

The friends join other strange animal pairs including a cat that adopted ducklings and a whole list of others.
