Think a Ferrari will get you places faster than a bicycle? Not if you’re riding François Gissy’s rocket-powered bike.

On Friday, the Frenchman broke his own record for world’s fastest bicycle after he reached a speed of 207 mph (333 km/h) with a little help from three small rocket thrusters designed by Exotic Thermal Engineering and some highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide.

At the Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France, Gissy’s bike reached the incredible speed in just 4.8 seconds, making its competition, a Ferrari F430 Scuderia, look pitifully slow.

Making the feat even more incredible, it did it “without the benefit of aerodynamic fairings, rear suspension, or even disc brakes,” Gizmag’s Loz Blain wrote.

How did it feel to accelerate so quickly? In the moment it is scary, but as soon you stop, you also realize how amazing that was! You cannot describe it, you have to live it,” Gissy told Gizmag.

Gissy’s previous bike-speed record was 163 mph.

What’s next for Gissy? Another record, he hopes.

“If we can find some serious sponsors, then we would like to build a monstrous bicycle, which will be called ‘Spine Crusher.’ The goal would be to accelerate to more than 400 km/h (249 mph) in less than two seconds. I just cross my fingers that we will have the green light soon in order to start the construction,” he said.
