Gigantic grouper

We’d be screaming, too.

Joe Black, a tackle shop owner from Cape Coral, Florida, recently caught the largest fish every from a kayak in Sanibel: a 552-pound giant goliath grouper.

“He broke the rod!” Black yelled, both shocked and excited by the massive catch.

According to the video posted on YouTube, the fish measured in at 83 inches long and more than 73 inches in girth.

“I thought he was going to kill me,” Black told Chew On This.

Because goliath groupers are endangered, Black released the fish back into the water after it was measured.

We’re big fans of “big catch” stories here at Daily Buzz — although the following catches make us want to hit the gym before getting our fishing licenses:

Earlier this year, an Italian fisherman reeled in a 280-pound catfish.

Last August, a Texas fisherman caught a 809-pound tiger shark in the Gulf of Mexico.

And in July, a California man on a weeklong fishing trip in Alaska reeled in a 482-pound halibut.
