Huge wave crashes into restaurant, ruins breakfast

A rogue wave washed out breakfast at Moby Dick's restaurant in Santa Barbara.

“And how did you want your eggs this morning: fried, scrambled, or completely drenched along with the rest of your breakfast?”

Customers were in for a real surprise when a sudden wave crashed through the windows at a restaurant in California, soaking everyone inside.

On Saturday morning, Santa Barbara’s Moby Dick restaurant in California was hit with a whale of a wave, ruining breakfast for everyone. I hope you like your eggs a little runny…

Forrest Buchanan, the man who caught the wave-crash on his camera, posted it to YouTube. In his description of the video, he states that the dining room was filled with the sounds of glass shattering and people screaming as a wave of water rushed over the dining room carpet. Everyone had frozen in astonishment, including the staff, so Buchanan rushed over to make sure there weren’t any serious injuries. Acting fast, Buchanan warned people that the danger might not be over so he got everyone to evacuate the restaurant.

Another customer who had also filmed the incident, Jill Freeland, had finished her breakfast when the wave hit. “I really didn’t expect it to break. Another swell beforehand came pretty close. We were just expecting some excitement, "she said.

If you watch the video closely, you can see how high the tide really is, and with the size of those waves, it’s shocking that more damage was not done.

I wonder if customers got the soggy toast discount?
