Iceland apparently has the world's most adorable police force, at least on Instagram

For all its natural beauty, Iceland is undeniably a pretty quirky place. From their pop stars to their politicians, Icelanders just seem to be a delightfully weird bunch. Maybe it's the isolation.

Whatever the reason, the Reykjavik Metropolitan Police (Lögreglan) certainly are no exception to Icelandic idiosyncrasies, at least if their Instagram account is anything to go by.

Judging by their posts, life as a member of the Lögreglan involves scenic bike rides, espresso, naps, goofing around and taking selfies.

Sure makes life in Iceland look rather idyllic, doesn't it?

Displaying a keen understanding of the Internet, the account features no shortage of adorable cat, dog and even duck photos.

It may all be an exercise in smart PR, but given the tension between police officers and citizens in places like Ferguson, Mo., a "Cops, They're Just Like Us!" social media campaign doesn't seem like such a bad idea. Look how relatable they are! They wear fake moustaches!

And in fairness to the Icelandic Police, it isn't all fun and games on their Instagram account. They also use it to make some important public service announcements:
