Japanese Gorilla is attracting the attention of many women

Gorillas have long been admired for having many interesting features, but handsome good looks isn’t one that quickly comes to mind.

Unless you’re one of the many women in Japan that have been flocking to see Shabani the studly gorilla at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, Japan.

Shabani, the Western Lowland gorilla, has captured the hearts of many young Japanese women and they’ve been lining up ever since just to get a glimpse.

The 18-year-old silverback, who weighs around 180 kilograms, has been living at the zoo since 2007 but not until recently has the gorilla gained so much popularity.

According the Agence France Presse, his handsome looks have generated a lot of visitors in the past few months ever since he was used as a model for a campaign in the zoo’s spring festival.

“He often rests his chin on his hands and looks intently at you,” a zoo spokesman told AFP. “He is more buff than most gorillas and he’s at his peak physically. We’ve seen a rise in the number of female visitors – women say he’s very good-looking.”

Women have taken to social media to comment about Shabani’s looks. On Twitter, young women are using the Japanese phrase ‘ikemen’ – a word used to call out a hot guy – when talking about the ape.

Beyond his handsome looks, rock-hard muscles and flirtatious glances, the fact that Shabani is a father which is also a big hit with the women.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t break too many hearts.
