Man annoys girlfriend with Ikea puns in viral video

Guy Goes on a Pun Spree at Ikea with Girlfriend - Hilarity Ensues

This guy will clearly do anything to shorten his trip to Ikea, even if it means driving his very patient girlfriend crazy.

Australian YouTube user Simon Gilmore and his girlfriend, Dana, recently moved in together. In need of a few things to furnish their new home, the couple went shopping to Ikea, which is well known for its affordable furniture, cheap meals and, apparently, oddly-named products.

But navigating the store’s maze-like floor plans can be, well, boring. So Gilmore decided to have a little fun by using puns to poke fun at the strange names Ikea has given its products.

“Hey Dana! I’ve got you on my “Reidar!” Gilmore says at the start of the clip, while holding up a chair to his girlfriend.

“Oh, God” She responds but it’s just the beginning.

Some of the puns came a little easier than others; like “kritter,” “smarta,” and “not.” But you’ve got to tip your hat to Gilmore’s creativity, as the other puns were a stretch but still pretty funny.

“Dana, what did the guy say at the start of a miniature horse race?” Gilmore asks in the video.

He presents her with a cushion labelled “Luktnypon,” and delivers his punch line: “Good luck, tiny pony.”

And then there’s poor Dana, who seems eager to peruse the stores offerings if not for her boyfriend’s silly antics. But the audience online, however, has surely enjoyed the endless Ikea puns.

The video has since been viewed more than three million times.
