The word, which is too long for us to write out because you would be scrolling forever, is the chemical name for titin. Also known as connectin, it is the largest known polypeptide in the human body and is important in the contraction of striated muscle tissue.

Geekologie suggests having a contest with your friends to see who can watch the video the longest without bashing their head on their desk.

I made it nine minutes before skipping ahead to see if the video is all the same. After about three minutes it all starts to sound the same and from what we can tell the guy doesn't even get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water and he manages to stay awake. As he finished he doesn't seem excited and when he finally says the last syllable he doesn't sigh, he just stares blankly into the camera and then stands up and walks out of frame.

However, the title of world's longest word may be up for debate. Lexicographers consider chemical compounds to be verbal formulae instead of actual English words. The longest English word that appears in a dictionary is the 45-letter pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. It is alleged to mean "a lung disease caused by inhaling very fine ash and sand dust," according to Oxford Dictionaries. Scientists now just refer to it as P45.

The longest non-technical non-coined word in the English language hasn't changed since I learned this word when I was in elementary school. Antidisestablishmentarianism is 28 letters long and refers to a 19th century political movement that opposed the disestablishment of the Church of England, according to Oxford.

The longest non-technical, coined word is Floccinaucinihilipilification. It is 29 letters long and is a noun meaning "the action or habit of estimating something as worthless," according to the dictionary.

As for the longest word, the video, which is now going viral, may be best used for helping to fall asleep.
