Man finds his wristwatch when alarm goes off inside his dog

Terry Morgan found his watch ... when the alarm went off inside his dog.

The dog ate his homework expensive watch.

Retired British pub owner Terry Morgan, 66, couldn't find his £500 ($920 CAD) Casio wristwatch.

Fortunately, Morgan had set his alarm for 22:55, five minutes before last call.

When the alarm went off, he knew exactly where the watch was: inside his pet Labrador's stomach.

"At first I thought he was lying on it," Morgan recalled. "Only when I rolled him over did I realize it was inside him.

"The watch was always set to go off at ten-fifty-five to remind me to call last orders," he explained. "Luckily, I'd never bothered to change it."

Morgan took his dog, Charlie, to the vet's to determine that the watch was the only thing he swallowed. After X-rays came back, an operation was scheduled to remove the timepiece.

Apparently Charlie wasn't interested in the surgery.

"But when Charlie saw the anaesthetic needle he howled with fright and coughed the watch up out of his gullet." Morgan said.

By regurgitating the watch, Charlie saved his owner about £1,000 ($1840 CAD).

"It still cost over £200 ($368 CAD) because they had to do X-rays to see if he had anything else in his stomach. I've also had to put up with the endless 'Time' jokes from the regulars," Morgan, who lives next door to his Anchor pub, said. "But I’ve forgiven him."

"He's a lovely pedigree animal. I got him from a rescue shelter but he's still young and very playful," he added. "He's always hiding my socks and anything else left lying around. I'll just have to be more careful in future."

In 2000, at a Massachusetts couple's wedding, the bride gave her groom a ring, and the groom gave his bride…an X-ray. Their 18-month-old Labrador had swallowed the ring the day before. The bride got her ring the following day after the dog vomited it up.

Last month, a Wisconsin woman found her wedding ring, which had been missing for five years, in her dog's vomit.

Thrilled Lois Matykowski said friends of hers have since joked, "'I want a dog that throws up diamonds!' Like, who wouldn't, right?"
