Man plays "Für Elise" in multiple styles for passengers waiting at Prague airport

Waiting at airports is never fun.

Maan Hamadeh, a Lebanese pianist, found one way to pass the time at the Václav Havel Airport Prague — and entertain his fellow passengers at the same time.

He sat down at the piano and started to play Beethoven's "Für Elise" in multiple styles, or "remixes" as he calls them.

"I have previously tried the Arabic remix once for 'Für Elise' at home," he told the Daily Star, "but the other remixes I played were [thought up] on the spot."

"First people where indifferent listening to a normal 'Fur Elise' version, but after I started with my remixes, they were very engaged," he added.

The impromptu concert was captured on camera. The video has been viewed more than 7 million times since it was uploaded last week.

Hamadeh had just spent 12 days in Europe without playing music, so when he saw the piano at the airport, he couldn't resist the opportunity to tinkle the ivories.

"While we were looking for the gate to board our next flight, my friend stopped me and he pointed toward a piano," he said. "And so like a baby who has found his mother after getting lost, I ran to it."

After he concluded his variations on "Für Elise," Hamadeh broke into the theme from Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On."

"I would love to see pianos in all public place, especially those where the waiting factor is present," Hamadeh told the Daily Star.

He also played Yiruma's "River Flows In You" on the out-of-tune airport piano.
