Man sentenced by judge to carry sign stating what a bully he is

There's no age limit on being a bully. Just ask Edmond Aviv, the 62-year-old man who was given a good stiff penalty for bullying his neighbor and her family for the past 15 years.

Aviv spent five hours on the side of the street on Sunday holding a sign that read, "I am a bully. I pick on children that are disabled, and I am intolerant of those that are different from myself. My actions do no reflect an appreciation for the diverse South Euclid community that I live in."

Why, you ask?

Well, for the past 15 years, Aviv has bullied his neighbor Sandra Prugh and her disabled children.

In a letter to the courts, Prugh documented a list of the many times Aviv harassed her family.

Prugh has two adopted children who are both African American. One suffers from cerebral palsy, and the other one suffers from epilepsy. Her husband has dementia and her son is paralyzed.

The 62-year-old Aviv disagrees with the way she lives, so he harasses the poor woman and her family on a daily basis. According to court records, Aviv tried to sue the family in 2010 because the smell coming from Prugh’s dryer vent annoyed him when she did laundry.

The case was thrown out, so Aviv decided to dump fabric softener all over Prugh’s lawn. Real mature, pal!

One time, Aviv even went to the extent of making a device in his garage that linked kerosene to a fan so that the smell would blow onto Prugh’s property.

Prugh phoned the police and when firefighters found the device, they forced Aviv to dismantle it.

In 1998, Aviv jogged past Prugh and spat on her. He spat on her again when she was planting flowers in her backyard, and then called her a "monkey momma."

The letter also details the instance where Aviv allegedly smeared dog feces all over a new wheelchair ramp that was built for their disabled children. Many times he threw feces on her son's car windshield.

According to Prugh's letter, the mother is very concerned for the safety of her family. Prugh has put so much money into making their home wheelchair accessible that they are unable to move.

After hearing everything that Aviv has put this family through, the judge ruled against Aviv, a decision the disgruntled neighbour does not agree with.

"The judge destroyed me," Aviv said. "This isn't fair at all."

As well as being forced to wear the sign for five hours, the judge also sentenced Aviv to serve 15 days in jail. He must also undergo anger management classes and counseling. Aviv was also required to submit a letter of apology to Prugh.

"I want to express my sincere apology for acting irrationally towards your house and the safety of your children," he wrote. "I understand my actions could have caused harm but at that time I was not really thinking about it."

Hopefully his sentence to wear the sign telling the world what a bully he is has taught this man a lesson.
